Hi, I'm Melodie. I've been working with tarot since 2016, originally as a way to get out of my own way when making decisions. Turns out, a lot of people need help with that.

I started reading professionally in 2020 because I kept seeing people get taken advantage of by practitioners who positioned themselves as spiritual authorities. That's not what tarot is for.

The cards don't have all the answers—you do. I just help you access them.

That same principle is why Esoterika now includes reiki and I Ching (coming soon). I'm currently training in Chinese medicine, and the more I studied energetics and classical texts, the more I saw reiki and I Ching working the same way tarot always has for me—not as systems that hand you answers, but as tools that help you hear what you already know underneath the noise.

Through Esoterika, I work with people who are spiritually curious but skeptical of the BS. People who want practical insight, not fortune-telling. People who believe in magic but also have to file taxes and make real decisions in the actual world we live in.

Whether we're working with cards, energy, or the hexagrams, I'm a facilitator, not an authority. You're not hiring me to tell you what to do—you're hiring me to help you see what you already know more clearly.

Getting Started

How do I book, and what happens after I book?
Book directly online for any live service. For live tarot and bundles, you'll get a Google Meet link for your scheduled time. For standalone Reiki, I'll call you at your scheduled time instead. Email readings take 3-5 business days.

All bookings need to be confirmed at least 12 hours before your scheduled session. You can reschedule up to an hour before your session—that's your only option if something comes up, since all sessions are final sale and non-refundable. No-shows are billed in full, and all services are prepaid to keep scheduling simple on both ends.

What if I don't believe in this stuff—can I still get something out of it?
Yes. Nothing here requires belief before you start. Tarot and Reiki both work whether you're a lifelong practitioner or just curious—you don't need to buy into a worldview first, just show up with an open question.

Can tarot or Reiki replace therapy or medical care?
No. Both are complementary practices for reflection, perspective, and energy work—not a replacement for your doctor, therapist, or medication. If you're managing a diagnosed condition, keep your other care in place; this works alongside it, not instead of it.

Tarot

What is tarot, and how does it work?
Tarot uses a deck of 78 cards, each with its own symbolism, as a structured way to explore a question or situation. It's not about predicting the future—it's a tool for pattern recognition. When you pull a card, it prompts you to consider angles on your situation you might not have consciously landed on yet. The reading is a conversation between the cards' traditional meanings and what's actually going on in your life.

What's the difference between live and email tarot readings?
Live readings happen in real time, by phone or video call—you can ask follow-up questions as things come up. Email readings are async and written; you send your question, and I send back an in-depth reading you can sit with on your own schedule. Same depth, different pace.

Reiki

How does distance Reiki actually work?
Distance Reiki works through the subtle body—the energetic and psychological layer that sits between your physical form and your mind. Using a few basic details about you, I can direct Reiki to reach you specifically, no matter where you are.

Why do you ask for my sex assigned at birth?
Sex and gender are complicated, and we take that seriously. To stay true to the lineage while being as inclusive as possible, the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto asks practitioners to use sex assigned at birth—not gender—to narrow in on a person's energy and direct the Reiki accurately.
